Beauty Within the Ashes

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. —2 Corinthians 12:9

If someone told you that your greatest strength was indeed your weakness—you probably would not believe it. “How can my weaknesses amount to any sort of strengths?” Your weaknesses are made whole in the site of the Lord. Your deficiencies do not define who you are. God sees past what you hold dear in your mirror of limitations. Whether your weaknesses were inaccurately picked up by your own taking, or were given to you by others—God has a plan for it. What you consider a weakness is exactly what God will use to advance you. Our weaknesses place us in a posture of humility, that allows us to seek the Father before we make movement. We must learn to embrace what we feel is inadequate or insufficient. There is beauty within your ashes. He will make use of those areas you consider defective. Take a few minutes to think about a weakness that causes you a great deal of discomfort or pain. Where did you form the idea that your weakness was unusable?

In Judges chapter 6, we find Gideon; an angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” (Judges 6:12). We see that the angel of the Lord addressed him as “mighty warrior”. How could this be as Gideon was actually hiding when the angel of the Lord appeared to him—hiding? Here is why: God called him by name; Gideon was called by his strength and not by his weakness. “The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14). Gideon then replied, “But how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” (Judges 6:15). Fear was Gideon’s weakness. He wrestled with insecurities. “Am I the right one for this assignment?” “Did God make a mistake when He called me?” These questions were not only relatable to Gideon, but may be to you in this season. You may be second-guessing God’s plans due to your fears and inadequacies. You may find yourself asking the difficult questions; in spite of, God will utilize every fear, skepticism, and hesitation. Even in Gideon’s inquisitions, God gave Gideon the strength to execute the assignment far beyond what he could have ever imagined. God recognized the “mighty warriorin him—even when he failed to see it. Your inability to see the fullness of your cup, does not invalidate the purpose of your cup. When God assigned you to that purpose, He gave you the strength behind it to complete it. The inexperience that you feel is a burden, is exactly what God will use to elevate you. Your voice that you dislike, is exactly what God will use for you to encourage others on stages and platforms. Your weakness does not equate to failure. God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. Gideon’s greatest victory happened in his weakest moment. Mighty warrior, your weakness is usable. Allow God to give you His strength.
