The Motion of Faith

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” —James 1:22-25

Imagine playing a game of kickball. In order to score, you need to kick the ball as hard as possible; therefore, making it easier for you to run through the bases while making it harder for the opposing team to hit you. This moment all comes down to how much grit and effort you put toward kicking the ball. For some, the ball has never been kicked. The ball represents your faith. If the ball has barely left your sight, you have made it easier for the world and the enemy to have access to you—while also making it harder for you to get to a base without attack. Your faith has been passive. The ball needs to move. You are believing for God to show up. You know what God has said. You know the assignment. Kick the ball. What are the things you are talking about, but keep putting off? What have you put down and struggled to pick back up? There is a reason God keeps tugging at you. There is a reason you keep getting the same message over and over again. There is a reason you keep envisioning more. The ball can only fly with the strength you give it. Be a doer—activate your faith and works. Write the vision and execute it with the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. You have heard the words from God. You know the way the Lord has shown concerning you. Diligently seek Him, and act on the understanding He has shown you. Do not give the enemy the advantage. The enemy is waiting to catch you off guard. The enemy is ready to aim the ball at you to get you out. Maybe you have been distracted by life. Maybe you have allowed discouragement to overwhelm you. In this season, find your ground—kick and run. As you set your faith in motion, your belief becomes actualized. Our action is required for us to move into higher spaces with God. You may not have all the resources—kick the ball. You may not have the skills or experience—kick the ball. You have what you need to be a doer of the word. The word of God will be fulfilled, but it is up to you in how you play your part. You have the tools to unlock the potential and possibilities of God. Are you willing to go all the way in with Him in this season? How much power are you going to give toward kicking the ball? How far are you willing to run? What will be your response to the proclamation of your faith? In the times that we are living in, we can no longer be a bystander of faith. We cannot let the anointing remain dormant. God is requiring us to activate what is written in His word. An execution is mandated for us to truly experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit. An act of obedience is needed from us in order to make movement on this side of the earth. When we hear the word of God, it should ignite a charge of action upon our hearts. As we continually progress in our faith, the ball will become easier to kick. As we seek out more of Jesus, He will give us an increase of power to execute His promises. The same power we will use to run with His purpose. The motion of your faith matters. Tie up your shoes and kick the ball. Be a doer in this season.
