“The Lord remembered Hannah’s plea, and in due time she gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, “I asked the Lord for him.” -1 Samuel 1:9
The story of Hannah in the Bible gives us reassurance that the Lord hears and answers our prayers—in due time. Whatever you have been waiting and praying for, God heard your plea. Hannah prayed to God in her weeping and despair; she vowed for a son that would walk with the Lord. In due time, God opened Hannah’s womb and gave her a son she named Samuel, who became a prophet and mighty leader. The waiting can be agonizing and hard. Hannah must have felt like her prayers fell on deaf ears. She cried out in desperation and pain. Her desire weighed heavily on her as she continued praying to the Father. God planted that desire for a reason. Imagine if Hannah had given up on her desire for a son. Imagine how drastically different things would have turned out. Samuel preached the word of God to the Israelites, anointed Saul and David as kings and did many other great things in the name of the Lord. Those works were predestined by the Lord for Samuel. God had a plan for Hannah. God had a plan for Samuel. Do not give up, keep praying and working. God put that desire in you for His glory. God sees the restless nights and early mornings. God knows the deepest depths of your desires—in due time, you will see the fruit.
Though tired and overwhelmed, Hannah fervently prayed. She kept praying through her agony and discouragement. The Lord remembered her plea. God has you on the forefront of His mind. That desire has not been forgotten or changed. There is purpose in what you are praying for. The Lord remembers you. God is perfecting and pruning you to receive the fullness of Him. When that desire is revealed, God needs every ounce of you to utilize His plans. Hannah dedicated what God had given her back to Him. You will accomplish what God has sent you forth to do. While you are in the waiting season, continue to pray over what has been established in your life.
Followed by Hannah’s plea was a powerful prayer of rejoicing and gratitude. In due time, you will see your mourning turn to dancing. In due time, the harvest will come. You will experience the anointing of that desire. You will see the beautiful timing of God. It will happen for you. No one can erase what God has written for you. You will see the reasoning for your patience and persistence. God showed Himself faithful to Hannah. God will do the same for you. He will answer your prayers in His timing. Take heart in knowing your desires are safe with the Lord and are preparing to unfold in due time. Keep praying like Hannah. God will remember your plea.
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in My Name the Father will give you.” -John 15:16
