There is protection that is happening for you in this very moment. Whatever season of life you may be in, there is a covering and grace that collides with your world every single day. The story of Daniel in the lions’ den gives us a better understanding of the true power of God’s protection. Even in the midst of the fierceness and intensity that the den represented—the safeguard of God stepped in. What looked like Daniel’s demise was actually his defense. The mouths of the lions were shut by an angel that God sent to Daniel. God’s shielding power showed up in the middle with Daniel and saved him. Although, the den was marked for a terrible outcome, it became the place of great favor from God. In this season, take note of the things that you have counted as disappointments or rejections. Take note of the closed doors you considered failures. Even though you could not see it, God’s protection was keeping you. There are seen and unseen things of this world that require a barrier of God’s refuge. Those lions’ den moments—the delays, setbacks, and losses are part of the hedge of protection that is being formed for your benefit.
While Daniel was in the lions’ den, he could have given in to the danger that surrounded him. He could have easily been taunted by the lions’ presence. Ultimately, Daniel knew this was intended for his harm, but he also knew that his faith in God was stronger. What you feel has not been working out for you has the Holy Spirit’s protection on it. It is hard to see past what is in the lions’ den right now. It is hard to believe that there is a way out when you are surrounded by situations that tell you otherwise. Take on the bold faith that Daniel had in this season. You can rest in God’s goodness and promises in your life. Ask God for His knowledge and understanding in what seems to be keeping you bound. Even though it looks like everything is a dead end—God’s protection is still actively covering you. It is not meant for us to dwell on the things that did not happen.
That detour that occurred in your life moved you closer to where you needed to be. The removal of certain people helped you grow closer to God. That delay you experienced was keeping you safe from disaster. There is protection in the den. The den is not comfortable to us. The den represents everything that we do not want to happen. However, what if the den is exactly what you needed in order for God to guide your steps? What if the den leads straight to the point of your power in Him? The lions’ den does not have be a place of uncertainty or fear. God will give you His grace while simultaneously giving you the tools to navigate the lions in this season. God will send His angels on your behalf to help you overcome what feels like the impossible. God is right there in the lions’ den with you. Though your world maybe tumbling around you and the den feels scary—you are in the safest place to be with Jesus. Let His protection guide you in all things. He will bring you through just like Daniel—with wholeness and peace. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” -Proverbs 18:10
“The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in His God.” -Daniel 6:23
