Given Identity

As we go through life, it is easy to put on the identities that we are given. Whether someone has given you an identity or you have given yourself that identity; anything that is not spoken from God is not your identity. You may be going through hard times, but your identity in Him is whole. You may be going through sickness, but your identity in Him is healed. You may be going through confusion, but your identity in Him is complete. We must learn to take on the identity that Christ has given each one of us, not the identity that someone has changed for you. So often we get caught up in what our outward identity is. We are workers, mothers, daughters, sons, fathers, teachers; we are so much more than our titles. To God we are loved, valued, healed, prosperous, and encouraged. He thinks of us as so much more than our roles and identities that society has chosen for us. You are everything you need to be right now. Nothing more or nothing less. His identity through you is strong and powerful. It is what God has called you to be.

Even when your circumstance says the opposite of what God has established, it is not your identity. If you dwell in the storm of what you are going through, that is what you become. Do not give your current circumstances the power to take over as your identity. You are not what you are going through.

You have the ability to change any identity that does not ultimately line up with God’s will. He is ready to give you a new identity in Him. He wants to shape you and mold you according to His purpose. Be an identity changer. Take off those things in which life has bound you to. Loose the shackles of the negative labels that you have encountered. Your identity in Him is so precious. You are not average. You are loved more than you will ever know. You matter to Him. You are seen. God sees you. He knows exactly who you are because He created you. We are all uniquely made. He cares about your identity. Change the narrative of anything that comes against what you know to be true in Christ. Change the narrative of those identities that are stealing your purpose through Him. Anything that is trying to take away from what God has said about you cannot co-exist with His word.
