You have probably experienced being on an elevator that has started from the ground level when you needed to get to the top floor destination. You slowly grow impatient because of the longer route to your destined stop. It would be so much easier if we did not have to start from the ground up. Unfortunately, life is full of starting from scratch moments. You may be in a season where starting over has become your new normal. Whether you are having to find a new place, church or school, navigating new friendships or a relationship, starting a new position or job—starting from the beginning is hard; especially, when all of these things were at your disposal. Whether your new start was by choice or not, learning and adapting to new ways and environments will always be difficult. Having to rely on new routines can be challenging. However, starting from scratch allows you to learn from the experiences that you held closely before. The lessons you learned will help guide you in the process. God is still with you; He never left your side. There is always purpose in everything that we experience.
The ground floor can be frustrating. You are essentially starting from the bottom; nonetheless, you grow in patience and faith. Starting from the ground up allows you to fully encompass and encapsulate the entirety of every aspect of God’s plans for your life. In this process, you can see how the past pieces that were created are aligning themselves together for your purpose. Building from nothing will leave you with moments of vulnerability. You will have more questions than answers as you venture through a new start. One thing that does stay the same is God’s promises. You may have to endure some pit stops and from scratch moments in your journey, but the assignment still remains the same. Even though your circumstances may have changed, God’s calling and purpose for you has not. There are so many instructions for us to adhere to in the things that we have not yet experienced.
If you are in a season of starting over—embrace it. We all will encounter numerous seasons of ground level moments. Your best days may be waiting for you on the ground floor. Do not despise the work that you have already put in. That work was important and necessary for this moment. Maybe we can reshape the way we see from scratch moments. Maybe everything you have done is leading you right where God needs you to be. Your work, obedience, faith and perseverance was not wasted in God. He is putting you in new places for His glory. He is surrounding you with new people that will help you. He is bringing new perspective into your space. He is positioning you in new environments that need your light and encouragement. He is bringing healing to you in this new atmosphere. Trust the process. All things work together for our good. Everything happens for a reason. Starting on the ground level may be the beginning of your transitional period of actually walking into everything that God has in store for you. Before the transition to higher floors, you must start from the establishment grounds with God. He will go before you to prepare the way. The next time you encounter a new start, you are in fact drawing nearer to fulfilling your assignment in God.
