In life, you will come across moments when you cannot articulate or convey the words you are feeling. Your words have been trapped by silence. Maybe your words have been replaced with tears instead. When your words escape in that moment, your heart will express its needs. The posture of your heart is what matters to God, not words. Our greatest battles are fought in the humbleness and the emptiness of our spirit. Words may fail you in that moment, but God will not. God seeks a surrendered heart rather than an eloquently spoken prayer.
When your words cease to be, your worship will become the weapon that is needed to sustain your moments of defeat. Your worship is enough to overtake your grief. Even when your circumstances feel incomprehensible, understanding will come to you in time. When the position of your heart desires God despite what you are experiencing, His words will eventually find you. Your complete sacrifice in that one moment can change everything.
Do not feel as if you cannot pray because you do not have the words for that moment. Coming forth to God with little can result in a shift of miracles for you. Just as if someone were pouring their heart out to you, you would want to just listen rather than interjecting your words. There is power in simply being a vessel in those moments of the unsaid. When you are unsure of what to say or ask, your heart’s position will help you. Our words do have power, but there are also beautifully orchestrated moments when the stillness and serene nature of your cry is heard before God. When you cannot find the words to explain your heart’s desire, remind yourself that He still hears everything that concerns you. Maybe you are at a loss for words in this season. Believe that your unspoken cry will echo all throughout heaven’s atmosphere. God hears your heart.
“For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” -Luke 12:12
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” -Romans 8:26-27
“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.” -Psalm 3:3-4
