The Heavy Load

If you have ever had to pick up or carry an extremely heavy box, then you know what it feels like to carefully and strategically hold up the box while walking to your destination. Normally, we would not carry it alone. We would ask for help when to trying carry something of that magnitude. The weight of the box is too heavy for someone to carry it alone. The heaviness of that box has the potential to pull someone completely down to the ground. Maybe you are trying to carry that load by yourself. The strain and stress of what you are carrying in your heart is becoming agonizing and overwhelming. You cannot reach your destination because it is too heavy. Exhaustion is setting in; tiredness is consuming you.

The load that you are carrying was never meant for you to carry it without God. The weight of it requires help. The weight of it requires assistance. We were never meant to do life by ourselves. You can choose to keep carrying it alone, but you will have a hard time trying to make it. God wants to help alleviate your suffering from holding and moving that weight by yourself. When it gets too heavy, you have God. He is our help and will send you help through people. Throughout the Bible, we can see how God sent help to His people. Moses was sent to help lead Israel to the promised land. Even though Moses did not see the end journey, God did not leave the rest of the Israelites out to dry. Joshua was eventually sent to help the Israelites finish out their journey. We can see how Moses carried his load of leading Israel out of Egypt. Then the load was given to Joshua who entered with the Israelites to the promised land. What you are carrying needs support. Your load needs someone else to assist you. Your help is near. You have handled this weight for too long. You have depleted yourself along the journey. When it feels heavy, you are not alone. You can find solitude and rest by giving your load over to God. He can help you carry the rest. You do not have to carry your burdens alone.

If you are currently surrounded by the heaviness of what you are carrying, ask God to help you in that moment. One moment of help can change everything. The load will start to ease. The weight will become lighter. You will ultimately begin to see the other side. God is sending you help with your needs. He is sending you encouragement through someone. He is sending you resources for that heavy load. You can lay the heaviness down. You can drop the load. God cannot pick up what has not been laid down. Release the load; He will pick it up exactly where you left off. You were never meant to carry the weight alone.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” -Galatians 6:2
