The Barren Point

Have you ever felt that you are in a dry season? Maybe you are going through this season in your life right now. In this desolate moment, you may feel as if you are stuck between a finished season and a fresh season. Navigating your way through this season can make you feel uncertain or even impulsive. Maybe you have just closed the door on your current job position and are waiting for an opened door. You may feel unqualified because all of the doors keep shutting behind you in this season. Maybe you are starting over in a new city and are experiencing unfamiliar territory. You may second-guess moving because of the unknown during this season. Maybe you are moving on from a prolonged relationship and you are learning to love again. You may feel undeserving of love because your relationship just ended in this season. This barren place feels uncomfortable and unsettling, but stay with God. He has your very life in His hands. This silent season will become a pivotal moment in your walk with God.

During this barren point, it is vital that you keep your eyes on Jesus and not on your current circumstances. Your circumstances will tell you there is no hope. Your circumstances will tell you there is no progression. Your circumstances will tell you that this season is unfruitful. Do not let what it may look like overtake you. We walk by faith and not by sight. Remember that this chapter has already been written and carved out for you by God. He is firm ground in our doubtful times. He is the foundation that is solid in our shaky moments.

In this dry season, do not let what looks like barren land stop you from fulfilling what He has placed inside of you. Maybe this time was made for you to stop and smell the roses around you. Maybe this time was made for you to rekindle your relationship with God. Maybe this barren season was made for you to go back to the visions and dreams that He has given you. Maybe this dry point was made for you to show you that you are worthy and qualified. Maybe in the stillness you are learning to hear God’s voice clearly. Maybe this season was made for you to mend the brokenness in your heart. What if these moments were there to help build your character and faith in this time? This barren point serves a purpose in you. God has worked this barren point for your good.

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” -1 Corinthians 15:58

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” -Romans 5:3-5
