First, Turn to God

When we come across life’s burdens and hardships it is easy to get overwhelmed by what is going on in your world. During these times, we turn to others for prayer and encouragement. This is a wonderful thing because we are made to uphold and lean on one another. The word says, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20). When we speak someone’s name into the atmosphere for prayer, that is a great act of faith.

Turn your situation over to God first. When we are faced with uncertainty and obstacles, we must first turn to God. Make sure you are taking that burden in His presence. When you receive bad news, take it to God first. When you are in a rough season in your life, take it to God first. God should be our first response in every situation. It is beautiful to gather in prayer for one another, but what you are going through is going to require you to enter into His presence and surrender to Him. It is going to require you to choose worship over worry and faith over fear.

Bring your problems to Him first. Bring your suffering to Him. Bring that sorrow and lay it at His feet. When we are standing in the need of prayer, let us already have full faith in His presence. Let us go forth and already have turned to God first and put our faith in agreement with those that are praying with us and for us.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22

“Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
