The world that we wake up to each and everyday can feel hopeless at times. Like many people, you have probably found yourself overwhelmed with personal struggles, seeing friends and family go through their darkest days, and hearing the awful things happening day by day on the news. This alone is enough to make us feel so surrounded by problems. During these times, when we shift our focus on God instead of the world around us peace overflows. Our hope is in Jesus; not this world.
When you are struggling, shift your focus on God. He is eternal. The things we see, feel and hear are all temporary. When you find yourself in the darkness, shift your focus to the light. He is the light. During these tests and trials it is easy to question God. God has always been there. He is still good. He did not stop being God because of what you see. He did not stop being God because of the hard times. Perhaps, we just took our eyes off of Him and put them unto worldly things. Just like Peter, we begin to sink when we take our eyes off Jesus. Put your trust in Him. God is still performing miracles. God is still saving, moving and providing. Shift your focus back on Him.
When you don’t feel God, shift your focus. If you feel like you are praying an empty prayer, shift your focus. When life brings you to your knees, that’s the perfect place to shift your focus. He is still mighty and strong; let us dwell in that. Let us dwell in His goodness and mercy. Let us dwell in His presence. It is easy to become distraught by the ever-changing world we live in. Shift your focus on Him. He is the foundation. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is our peace that surpasses all understanding. Choose to set your heart on His everlasting hope and not the circumstances around you. Shift your focus on Jesus.
If you are in a place of lack, sadness, loneliness, grief, or despair; today, shift your focus. Shift your focus back to God.
