The world is constantly feeding us this idea that we should be accomplishing certain standards by a particular time. The world taunts us with feelings of shame and failure when we do not live up to its expectations. The world greets us with guilt when we do not keep up with the pace of life. The world’s standards are of man. They are the standards of people that have no authority over His will. The world will try to tell you that you are not doing enough. The world will try to tell you that you are behind. We are constantly in a state of defeat because we are always trying to live up to the world’s definition of success.
The world does not have authority over the trajectory of your life—God does. His standards are what we should be striving for each and everyday.
Silence that worldly voice that says you are failing. You are right exactly where God needs you to be in this very moment. Silence that voice that says you are too inexperienced. In the Bible, Jeremiah was called to be a Prophet at a young age. He believed that he was too young to do the task. God reassured Jeremiah that He would give him the words to say to the nations. Silence that voice that says you are inadequate. Moses brought forth his concerns of inadequacy due to his speech before God, but God still choose him to be a messenger. Silence the voice of people and their standards, and tune into God’s voice reassuring you every step of the way.
It does not matter what the world’s standards are when you allow the voice of God to reign and rule in your life.
Choose to live by the standards of God and not by man.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” -Romans 12:2
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” -Matthew 16:26
